Library 2.0 at the University of Florida
Tentative Meeting (unless I hear otherwise about better times very soon!)
Thursday, September 20, 2007 3pm-4pm. Library West, 5th Floor Conference Room
Working together using this wiki
Think of this wiki as a shared online whiteboard. We can share information using this wiki, making your research accessible to everyone. Play around with this wiki: We can add comments to a page, see what people have changed, and edit all the text. I've started with a few comments, but everyone can discuss. Add sections at will. News
Aug 11, 2008 Merrie taught a blog class this morning. There were a couple of comments and suggestions about widgets we would like to use on our blogs: especially including Meebo, Delicious, etc.
Oct 3rd, 2007 Let's all try to either import a blog or start a blog using this software and play around in it. Has anyone started with this yet? How is it to use? Let us know... -Merrie
Oct 3rd, 2007 On the main page for the Library Blog Test Bed there is a news section. In this section I'll be writing articles that talk about the new system with the hope that users of the system will comment. Again this is only the test bed, so feel free to comment on the things you like and things it lacks. There is a quick welcome article which is a good place for general comments on the system and a more indepth article about importing old blogs into your new uflib blog. -Stephen
Oct 1, 2007 In addition to creating your own blog on our testing server, you can also import your old blog from any other blogging software into the server. Simply once you are logged in, go to manage, and select import, then follow the directions. Its been tested with wordpress (for when we move to production) and with blogger - Stephen
oct. 1, 2007 Logan sent us all an email:
You can create a blog from the links on the main page. Currently these will only be available internally, for users on our library domain. There is an export function though, so it’s possible to export your blog for use on a production server when the time comes. Sign up using your *@uflib.ufl.edu email. Feel free to experiment with themes and settings if you wish. Let me know of any issues that you encounter.
Most likely the confirmation email will go to junk mail just FYI. It’s to do with the server naming convention and will work better in production.
